ON THE EVE OF THE 2020 ELECTION: FOUR ENCOURAGING TRUTHS WITH FIVE SUPPORTING BIBLE VERSES

1. GOD IS SOVEREIGN AND POWERFUL
   •He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding; – Daniel 2:21
   •The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the LORD; he turns it wherever he will. – Proverbs 21:1
   •Then Job answered the LORD and said: “I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted. – Job 42:1-2
   •What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? – Romans 8:31
   •Our God is in the heavens; he does all that he pleases. – Psalm 115:3
2. GOD IS GRACIOUS LOVING AND GOOD
   •but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. – Romans 5:8
   •But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ-by grace you have been saved – Ephesians 2:4-5
   •The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. – Psalm 23:1
   •For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you. – Psalm 86:5
   •For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. – Romans 8:38-39
3. WE HAVE A PURPOSE
   •In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. – Matthew 5:16
   •So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. – 1 Corinthians 10:31
   •…as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God… – 1 Peter 2:11-12
   •we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. – 2 Corinthians 5:20
   •”You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. – Matthew 22:37-39
4. WE SHOULD TRUST GOD AND NOT BE ANXIOUS OR FEARFUL
   •The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:5-7
   •”Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? – Matthew 6:25-2
   • God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. – 2 Timothy 1:7
   •Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. – Proverbs 3:5-6
   •Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God. – Psalm 20:7
