Ginosko is the Greek word for “to know” in the Bible. It’s used over 200 times in the New Testament. Ginosko isn’t just “knowing about” it’s knowing in a way that is experiential, relational, and intimately.
✝️ To ginosko God we turn away from sin and self and turn to Jesus Christ, trusting Him for forgiveness and eternal life, making Him our Lord and Savior. Salvation is a whole new life in a PERSONAL (ginosko) relationship with God.
🙏🏼 💥 Prayer is a VITAL part of this relationship. But prayer can often become far less than relational. Many people I talk to say their prayer life has become limited to bringing a list of needs to God. But prayer is meant to be so much more than that! Prayer should be experiential, relational, and intimate time with the Lord. That’s what I mean by GINOSKO PRAYER.
Here’s a fivefold approach to GINOSKO PRAYER TIME WITH GOD including supporting Scripture, and prayer prompts to get us started:
🙏🏼 Praise / Thanksgiving / Worship (Psalm 100:4) — “Lord you’re amazing…”
🙏🏼 Confession / repentance (1 John 1:9. Psalm 139:23-24) — “Please forgive me…”
🙏🏼 Petition / supplication (Matthew 7:11) — “Help me…”
🙏🏼 Intercession — (Galatians 6:2, James 5:16) “Help the people I care about…”
🙏🏼 Meditation — (Psalm 1:2) “I’m listening…”
Reminders:
We can’t rush through these! If we want to ginosko God personally we have to spend focused time with Him.
😌 Don’t worry about using fancy words. Talk to your Father from your heart. Ginosko is not about performance.
🎶 If it helps (it helps me) play your favorite worship music while you pray.
✍️ Journal. Sometimes it’s just easier to write out your prayers. Sometimes it’s more beneficial! Remember, the Psalms are basically written prayers. Also journaling can help you come back and see how God answered your prayers.
🤫 Find a quiet place to pray. I know this can be a challenge, but get creative if you have to and find a place where you can talk with God and hear from Him.
💪🏻 Don’t wait till you want to. Sometimes when we don’t want to pray is when we need to pray the most.
👂Don’t skip meditation. Go to a Psalm or favorite passage of Scripture, read it, and just ask God what he wants to show you through His Word.
✝️ Be intentional but don’t be wooden or legalistic about it. If you get interrupted or miss a day, don’t beat yourself up about it. Take it to God and talk with him about busyness and thank Him that His grace is enough
😃 Enjoy it! You get to spend time with your Heavenly Father. What a privilege!
Hope this helps someone. If you try this approach to prayer and have feedback please feel free to share.
Love y’all! God loves you more! Keep lookin up!
